Justice For January! Kill a Trans Woman & Get Bail? Friends Say NO!

Charles Jameson Neel charged with killing Transgender woman January Marie Lapuz may get bail before his trial. Friends of January Marie Lapuz Say NO!

UPDATE: I have searched the web and have not been able to verify this but one of the rally attendees said bail was denied.

Transgender woman January Marie Lapuz from Santiago, Isabela Philippines immigrated to Vancouver, British Columbia to escape what has become known as a very transphobic country only to be murdered Sept. 29 at the age of 26.

Bail in Canada can be denied if "detention is necessary for the protection or safety of the public. This includes whether there is a substantial likelihood the accused will commit a further offence or interfere with the administration of justice.

This precisely what frightens the BC trans community. The crime was violent and resulted in the death of January. This was a real woman, live flesh and blood with hopes, dreams and passions as January's Facebook page reveals. Does her murder not equate to that of a cisgender woman?

Persons charged with a criminal offence in Canada have a constitutional right to reasonable bail unless there is some compelling reason to deny it. These reasons can be related to the accused's likelihood to skip bail, or to public danger resulting from the accused being at large. In stark contrast to many other jurisdictions granting a constitutional right to bail, in Canada the accused may even be denied bail because the public confidence in the administration of justice may be disturbed by letting the individual, still legally innocent, go free pending the completion of the trial or passing of sentence (Criminal Code, s. 515 (10)(c)). :Wiki Bail Canada

The Justice for January protest is before this alleged murderers bail hearing is scheduled so if you are in BC you will have a opportunity to demand equality and justice for January.

India: Rape Victim Dies, Government 'waiting on reaction' To Act

As the world mourns the death of the young woman brutally assaulted, raped and thrown from a moving bus transgender people worldwide wonder. How will this affect trans people in India? Will the government need a riot to punish the perpetrators? And what about the social climate that not only allows this to happen but punishes the victims as well?

My hope is that this will help awaken India to the root causes that allow a society to ignore rape. India's misogynisticpatriarchal and transphobic society must change. Respect for woman isn't optional, it's necessary if India is serious about stopping this from reoccurring.

The Indian gang rape victim whose assault in New Delhi triggered nationwide protests died of her injuries on Saturday in a Singapore hospital, potentially threatening fresh protests in India where her case is a rallying point for women's rights. The 23-year-old medical student, severely beaten, raped and thrown out of a moving bus in New Delhi two weeks ago, had been flown to Singapore in a critical condition by the Indian government on Thursday for specialist treatment. Al Jazeera's Divya Gopalan reports on the latest from New Delhi.

Did M16 Cross Dressing Spy Gareth Williams Die Of Employer Harassment?

Some things seem too embarrassing to admit. Trans people living authentically will attest that the internal battles we wage with ourselves are multiplied in intensity by social stigmatization.

The pressure to keep our true selves secret comes from many places and if our employer adds to that sentiment it can seem to be too much to deal with.

In 2010 the "MI6 codebreaker Gareth Williams was found naked, locked into a Red North Face sports bag. Most speculated at the time it was a hit.

Most media focus is on his  "pictures of drag queens on his computer and had £20,000-worth of designer women's clothes in his flat along with women’s shoes and wigs".

"He browsed self-bondage websites and sites about claustrophilia - the love of enclosure - on his computers and phone and was looking at fetish websites days before his death."
Friends and family were upset at speculation that Mr Williams may have been gay and speculated that "some agency specialising in the dark arts" was behind his killing.

I wish the mainstream media would stop sensationalizing and ask the question, did Gareth Williams commit suicide to escape the pressures his employer would have undoubtedly brought to bear?

Was this a murder to keep Gareth Williams silent or a suicide?

Kuwait: 16 Woman Await Trial for Being Transgender

"2007 Law issued in Kuwait in criminalizes both resemble or wearing clothing of the opposite sex year in prison and a fine of 1000 KD.
In addition to assault and sexual harassment suffered by these prisoners and abuse verdicts."

They hunt us down for fun. Imagine yourself on the way to the market and blue lights suddenly pulsate behind you. Pulling over you your heart stops as the police quickly open your door and throw you against your car.

I haven't done anything wrong you shout as a fist smashes into you. You are being assaulted, imprisoned for the crime of being transgender in Kuwait. But the worst is yet to come. Rape. Torture. Being sold into slavery.

16 people are being held in Kuwait jails some for nothing more than having soft skin or a feminine voice. Most of the detainees have been arrested for ‘Imitating the Opposite Sex’, a ambiguous law which gives Orwellian power of arrest to law enforcement explaining why some of the detainees claims that that they were  arrested while dressed as a man and latter forced to put on women's clothing.

This is the country that we "liberated" with American lives?

Why Wait He's Here A Christmas Message

Good Morning lovely family.

It's Christmas eve and for the first time in my life I will actually celebrate the Christ child's birthday.

It's been a rough rocky road to get 'here' and although this is not by any means my final 'destination' it beats the hell out of were I was at this time before.

And I have you to thank. I cherish every visit to this humble blog. You lift us up when you come here, raising our voices for equal treatment as humans. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

But none of this would have been possible for me if not for the Christ. I see her looking at me now, smiling admonishing me for saying hell in a post about her. She's there in our lives if only we take the time to witness her miracles. Sadly, many don't and it amazes me that they don't see what I do.

They are the ones who we know so well, hate blinders in placed.

If you are black, yellow, green white, cisgender or trans, tall, thin, man, gay, woman or gender queer there's one thing we know. God loves you. Jesus Loves You. The holy spirit surrounds you.

I love you my transgender family. Merry Christmas.
